Leslie Bush, Provincial Commissioner
Leslie has been a member of Girl Guides for over 45 years, including girl member years as a Brownie, Guide and Ranger. Leslie has been a Guide, Pathfinder and Ranger leader, District Commissioner, co-Division Commissioner and co-Area Commissioner, Deputy Provincial Commissioner, and has held various other district and area level positions. She was also a CAJURA adviser. Leslie lives in Prince George with husband Ken and son Stephen. Her daughters, Colleen and Tara live in Prince George and Vanderhoof respectively. Retired from a career with the government of BC, in her spare time she and Ken love to take their trailer and travel, spend time with their children and paddle their kayaks.
Colleen Kellner, Deputy Provincial Commissioner
has been a member of Girl Guides for over 19 years, including girl member years
as a Brownie, Guide and Pathfinder. After a break between girl and adult
member years, Colleen returned as a Brownie leader with her daughter’s unit. She has been a Brownie and Guide leader, a District Commissioner, an Area
Commissioner, and has assisted in the amalgamation of Pender Harbour, Hunechin and
Elphinstone Districts. Colleen lives in North Vancouver with her daughter
and dog, with her son living close by, in Vancouver. She loves camping,
traveling, reading and spending time with family.
Darlene Kent, Deputy Provincial Commissioner
Darlene has been a member of Girl Guides of Canada for over 20 years. She was not a Girl Member; however like many ladies joined when she signed up her daughters. Darlene began as a Guiding Member in Prince Rupert, BC with Pathfinders and was the Public Relations Adviser. She became a Unit Guider for her daughters', Samantha (Sam) and Jenelle (Jen), Units with Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders. She was also a Unit Treasurer, District Treasurer, Area PR Adviser, Deputy Area Commissioner and just finished her term as Lougheed Area Commissioner. Darlene lives in Maple Ridge with her husband Colin and their two daughters. She will camp, but does not love it. She likes to attend Guiding events to see Guiders and girls in action. She does love to travel, read and relax at the lake in Harrison Hot Springs. Darlene truly believes that Guiding has to be fun; for Girls, Youth Members and Adult Members.
Helen Varga, Deputy Provincial Commissioner
Helen has been in Guiding since becoming Elf Owl in her daughter’s Brownie unit 15 years ago. Since then, Helen has held many positions in Guiding including Commissioner, Area Training Adviser, event planner, Book of Honour Manager on the provincial awards committee, is currently a Brown Owl with the 129th Brownies, an area trainer, Guider in Southridge District, West Coast Area; Pipeline proofreader and is co camp director of West Coast Area’s annual Camp Holidaze, held at Camp Olave. Helen lives in Vancouver with her husband, two daughters and a beastly dog. She loves the outdoors, crafts and reading.
